the first three albums are all quite good, after that she did 'all dressed up and n place to go' with andrew gold producing, and the two of them got engaged but never married. after 'all dressed up' she did 2 country flavored albums "say when' and 'rose of my heart' and neither oft them did very well, they were released as a two-fer a few years ... Andrew Gold did a lot of specialty recordings under various pseudonyms, as well as collaborations with others like 10cc and Bryndle. He was one of the first artists who seemed to grasp the marketing potential of the internet and creating niche recordings for people who were into the same kind of music he liked, namely 1960s rock-oriented pop. Just 4/4 throughout but tricky. First half beat is silent if I'm remembering my sight reading right. So its (silent) half beat, full beat, three halfs, full.

As was mentioned earlier, I thought it was weird Peter Asher didn't mention Andrew Gold. He made it seem like he was the only creative force behind "You're No Good." I thought the documentary was pretty good. I love a lot of Ronstadt's hits. "Willin'" and "Tumblin' Dice" are great covers. I think they glossed over her playing in South Africa. The good news for us Andrew Gold fans, is that while most of us didn't care for "WHIRLWIND", Andrew would bounce back with many more releases (many that were Japanese release ONLY CD's), that were equally interesting to listen to! "ALL THIS AND HEAVEN TOO" is always in my Top Ten of all-time list! Chris C There is a completely different recording of "The King Of Showbiz" that was originally released on Andrew's Japanese only album release called, "Since 1951" and then that same re-recording ended up as the final track on the RHINO CD, "Thank You For Being A Friend - The Best Of Andrew Gold". Andrew Gold, Rupert Holmes, Stephen Bishop, Michael Franks and the late Kenny Rankin were among the under appreciated singer-songwriters of our time. AudiophilePhil , Nov 23, 2009 #9

AudiophilePhil , Nov 23, 2009 #9 Always love seeing anything with Andrew Gold. Great interview with insights as to how the song was built. Thanks OP. During the solos in the live video, Linda looked like she was really enjoying being on stage in the middle of the band. Nice cowbell, too.
